New Orleans set to stand with Israel

On Sunday at 10 a.m., the New Orleans Jewish community will hold a NOLA Stands With Israel “community gathering of support” at the Uptown Jewish Community Center. Those in attendance are encouraged to wear red in support of families affected by Hamas rocket strikes in Southern Israel. The use of red relates to the state of red alert under which they have lived in recent weeks.

Senators Mary Landrieu and David Vitter are both scheduled to speak, along with the Israel Consul General to the Southwest, Meir Shlomo. There will also be remarks by remote from Israel Ambassador Michael Oren, and Rosh Ha’Ayin Mayor Moshe Sinai.

Babysitting will be available, and children will be able to make cards for their peers in Israel.
