JCRC, ADL respond to antisemitic flyers in Bywater

A statement was issued by the Jewish Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans, and the Anti-Defamation League, following the recent proliferation of antisemitic flyers in the Bywater area of New Orleans, from the Goyim Defense League.

Dear Jewish Community Members,

We were deeply saddened to learn of an incident over the weekend where antisemitic flyers were placed on doorsteps throughout the Bywater neighborhood. These flyers contained hateful and offensive language directed towards the Jewish community, and we want to assure you that the matter is being taken very seriously.

The distribution of these flyers is a reprehensible act that has no place in our society. We condemn this hateful behavior in the strongest possible terms and are working closely with local and federal law enforcement on this matter.

The Jewish Federation and ADL are actively working to combat antisemitism through various initiatives. We understand that education is a key factor in combating hate, and have implemented a number of programs aimed at educating the public about antisemitism and its impact. In addition to these programs, we are actively building community partnerships to increase awareness about the issue and to foster collaboration between different groups to combat hate and promote inclusivity.

The safety and well-being of our Jewish community is our top priority. If you experience or witness an incident of antisemitism, extremism, bias, bigotry or hate, please report it here.

Please remain alert and do not hesitate to reach out if you need any assistance. We must stand together as a community to combat hatred and bigotry in all its forms.

Sincerely,

Robert French
